About Erica N McKinney

Erica McKinney, PhD is currently a Clinical Health Psychology post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Clinical & Health Psychology at the University of Florida. She completed her APA pre-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at Henry Ford Health, in the Health Psychology/Consultation-Liaison track in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to coming to UF, she completed her PhD in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology at University of Georgia in the “Towards Health Equity” Lab with Dr. Bernadette Heckman. She completed a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health with a specialization in Addictions Counseling from Marquette University and a B.A. in Sociology and Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research Profile

Dr. McKinney’s research interest includes health disparities/health equities, culturally based forms of coping, pre-surgical psychological evaluations, adjustment to chronic and life-limiting illness, headache disorders, and opioid and substance use disorders.
