Erin Ferguson, B.A.
Erin is a second year graduate student in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. She graduated from Spelman College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in public health. Her undergraduate honors thesis examined the role of body image in sexual behavior for middle aged African American women. She has worked on a wide range of research projects related to health psychology and risky behaviors, involving topics such as HIV/AIDS and risky sexual behavior prevention, substance use, and treatment adherence in adolescents with sickle cell disease. Erin is on the Clinical Health Psychology track and works in the Intervention Research Advancing Care Equity (i-RACE) lab under the mentorship of Dr. Nicole Ennis.
Erin’s primary research interests concern the investigation of psychosocial and cultural factors that may influence health outcomes for people living with HIV. She is also interested in identifying the biopsychosocial correlates of risky sexual behavior and substance use, particularly in underrepresented and racial minority populations.
