  • M.A. 1993, University of Florida

Clinical Focus

Dr. Durning maintains a clinical practice at a University of Florida’s women’s health clinic, where she provides direct delivery of psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and consultation-liaison.  As a member of the infertility group, she sees all couples preparing for in vitro fertilization as well as all individuals involved in third-party reproduction (i.e., oocyte donor candidates, recipients of donor sperm or oocytes, and gestational host surrogacy candidates and commissioning couples) for psychological consultation.  In addition, she sees patients referred through obstetrics and gynecology for psychological assessment and treatment for a range of difficulties, including prenatal anxiety, post-partum depression, and more general psychological difficulties.  In addition, Dr. Durning serves as the supervising psychologist to graduate students and pre-doctoral intern trainees conducting therapy with adults with a range of presenting problems.

Research Focus

Dr. Durning has been a collaborator on externally-funded research projects in health promotion, working as data coordinator for two NIH-funded grants examining lifestyle intervention for obesity (PI: Michael G. Perri, Ph.D).  Dr. Durning has also been interested in gaining a better understanding of adjustment to medical conditions.  To this end, she has participated in unfunded research in both infertility and psycho-oncology.
