Dr. Robert Guenther appointed to chair UF Health Shands Hospital Ethics Advisory Committee (EAC)

Robert GuentherDr. Robert Guenther, Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, has been appointed to chair the UF Health Shands Hospital Ethics Advisory Committee (EAC). The EAC is a group administered through the hospital to provide a support structure for the provision of ethics consults to staff and inpatients. Anyone involved in the provision of services to hospital inpatients can consider joining the EAC. Core EAC members include faculty in the Department of Community and Family Medicine’s Program in Bioethics, Law and Medical Professionalism. Others are faculty in any of a number of associated departments, colleges, and inpatient care units. The EAC strives to provide ongoing education in bioethics to staff, trainees, and faculty throughout the UF Health Science Center via topical presentations and case reviews. Members also participate in community outreach efforts to increase awareness of bioethical concerns among Florida residents (e.g., importance of developing an advance directive, wherein one’s values regarding care at the end of life are documented and respected).
