12 top-scoring abstracts submitted by early-career researchers were selected and invited as 3-minute “Lighting Talks” during a session at The Obesity Society annual meeting (Obesity Week, the joint annual meeting of The Obesity Society and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery). Talks were judged during the s ession by a panel of researchers, and the top three were selected and announced. Dr. Ross received the top score.
