Nicole Ennis Whitehead, Ph.D., Columbia University HISTP Fellow

Nicole Ennis Whitehead, Ph.D., is one of four junior faculty members chosen from a nationwide search to be a Columbia University HIV Intervention Science Training Program fellow.

HISTP is an NIMH-funded two-year multidisciplinary training program that seeks to develop and facilitate the growth of scientist from underrepresented groups conducting HIV-related dissemination and implementation research.   Fellows are awarded pilot funding to complete a primary data collection project within the two year fellowship.  Dr. Whitehead traveled to Columbia to present her project “Social Support, Depression and Health Outcomes in HIV+ adults 50+” in early March.  Fellows are provided official appointments at Columbia University and are able to access the university’s library, mentorship, and other resources.  They are also provided support to attend conferences and assistance with the grant development process from peer review to production support.
