Congratulations to Allyson Diggins, as President of BGSO she was responsible for leading a team of organizations from both the graduate and undergraduate level that brought Dr. Nikki Giovanni to UF. Dr. Giovanni is a world-renowned poet, author, activist and academician currently on faculty at Virginia Tech. The event, an Evening with Nikki Giovanni, afforded our university community an opportunity to have a powerful and contemporary discussion on race and ways to promote inclusions in the 21st century. The Reitz Union was standing room only with a long line of people turned away. Dr. Giovanni’s talk was filmed and interested parties are encouraged to contact Allyson for video.
