Dawn Bowers, PhD., receives NIH grant to study upregulation of emotion in Parkinson’s Disease

Dr.  Bowers, Professor in CHP and Neurology, has received a NIH/NINDS funding (R21)  to study neurophysiologic markers of emotion upregulation in Parkinson disease.  The primary goal is to learn: a) whether Parkinson patients, who are  frequently apathetic and blunted, can learn to upregulate their emotional reactivity, and b) whether success in doing so relates to integrity of frontal-executive systems.     Her collaborators are Drs. Margaret Bradley, William Perlstein, and Michael S. Okun
